Angelus flat black leather paint

With Angelus flat black leather paint, you have a beautiful, distinctive, matt colour with which you can give leather a new colour in no time. Whether you are looking to revive an old watch strap, the chairs in the dining room or the saddle of your bicycle, with Angelus leather paint in flat black you can do it easily and quickly with a beautiful result. This paint is specially developed for smooth leather and adheres perfectly. As a result, you need not worry that it will rub off. Moreover, the paint is elastic and waterproof, making it perfect for leather products used outdoors.

Applying Angelus flat black leather paint

Before applying Angelus flat black leather paint, it is advisable to make sure the leather has been properly cleaned. There are special products for this, such as the Angelus Preparer and Deglazer. These remove dust, grease residues and the factory-applied finisher. As a result, the new paint layer will adhere perfectly and last a long time. If you do this, you avoid risking the paint layer coming loose unexpectedly. Having prepared the leather, you can start painting by following the steps below:

  • Apply the leather paint evenly and in a thin layer to the leather product you want to paint. Include seams and cracks as well.
  • Before applying the second coat, let the first coat dry thoroughly for about 10 to 15 minutes.
  • Apply the following layers in the same way as the first layer. Once you have a good covering, let the product dry for at least 24 hours before use.

How much Angelus leather paint do I need?

  • A small 29.5 ml jar contains enough paint for a pair of leather shoes.
  • With the large 118 ml version, you can paint a car seat or dining room chair made of leather.
  • For a large two-seat sofa, use 6 jars of 118 ml each of leather paint as a rule.
  • The amount of Preparer and Deglazer and finisher needed is normally half the amount of paint used.
To give the painted garment or piece of furniture the perfect finishing touch, apply a finisher product after painting. Find various finisher treatments in our online shop!

You have questions? We have answers.

  • Q. For how long does the paint need to dry?

    A. We recommend letting each thin coat dry for 10-25 minutes; the final coat should be left to dry for 24 hours before applying finishers.

  • Q. How can I reduce the glossiness of the paint?

    A. The Angelus Duller was developed to specifically reduce glossiness in leather paint. Before painting, it is both easy and quick to mix the Duller with your leather paint to get a more matt finish.

  • Q. How much paint should I use?

    A. This depends on the size, type, and intended use of the item you are going to paint. A pair of shoes such as trainers can be painted with three thin coats using one 29.5 ml jar.

  • Q. Is applying a white coat of paint necessary before doing anything else?

    A. Even though Angelus Leather Paint has great opacity, lightening dark-coloured leather can be tricky. We thus recommend applying a coat of white leather paint first, to ensure the best colour quality.

  • Q. Should I apply the leather paint in several coats?

    A. Yes, always apply the paint in several layers using thin coats. An excessively thick coat of paint will not remain elastic, resulting in cracks and tears.
